Monkami ShopMaroondah Council offered Monkami a retail shop in Main Street Croydon for them to use as an Opportunity Shop, which should prove a very good fund raising venture for them. The premises are very large and there is space for them to also have an art studio that will be used by Monkami clients and in time the general public for the conduct of art classes. The shop needed fitting out and we contributed $2500 to provide the necessary partitioning and benches so they could move in and start up straight away. The shop is located on the corner of the arcade leading to the station (opposite Hewish Road) and you are welcomed to call in and browse and buy.

We provided an iPad ($565) to local nursing home, which is to be used as an educational tool for their clients.

Eastern Volunteers CarWe have agreed to continue our sponsorship to provide a car for staff at EVRC (Eastern Volunteers) at a cost of $4000-00 per annum. The car is used by staff to visit and transport clients.

Care Connect referred a case to us for a 63 year old male with a spinal disability who is non ambulant and
requires assistance with all tasks of daily living. He is wheelchair dependant and is also recovering from
difficulties with bowel cancer. He is being cared for at home and because of circumstances often retires early
to bed. An Occupational Therapist assessed the 35 year old waterbed as inadequate for his on going needs and
Footmen were pleased to help by provided a new bed at a cost of $1050.

The Footmen Charitable Trust

Having been formed in 2011 the Trust was officially endorsed by the Commissioner of Taxation as a public fund for the benefit of persons living in Australia who are in necessitous circumstances with effect from 11 July 2011. This continues the Footmen’s tradition of charitable giving which dates back to the formation of the Footmen Foundation in 1976, with the additional benefit that donors to the Trust are now able to claim tax deductions for their donations, provided that such donations comply with relevant tax laws. Complying donations may be made to the Trust for the benefit of individuals who are in necessitous circumstances, and may comprise donations of money and/or goods and services.

The Trustee responsible for the management of the Trust is The Footmen Pty Ltd, a private Australian Company formed for the specific purpose of controlling the Footmen Charitable Trust through its Board of Trustees. The Board comprises five members, each of whom has been approved by the Australian Taxation Office for this purpose.
